The GPS locator program is designed for emergency use only. The Locator program only runs on devices that comply with the CLDC 1.1 specification and have GPS or other locator capability and which support JSR179 specification (Location API for Java ME). Most modern mobile phones support this standard.

Note that just because your phone has GPS capability does not mean that it will run the GPS software. It must conform to the CLDC 1.1 specification and support JSR179 location services API.

For Blackberry devices please consult the following link to see if your particular device supports JSR179.

Click here for Blackberry GPS support.

AviatorCalc 3.6 or later contains the new GPS locator program. If your device does not conform to CLDC1.1 and JSR179 then download the non-GPS version of AvuiatorCalc.

GPS Locator

Once contact with the GPS satellites has been established the current Latitude and Longitude will be displayed along with True Track and distance to the current waypoint (EHRD Rotterdam in this case) will be displayed.

Touching the screen or pressing the Gamepad fire key will display just the true track and distance to the current waypoint. This will be displayed in the largest available system font for easy reading.

The waypoint can be easily changed by selecting any waypoint stored in the AviatorCalc database. Click on the photo below to see it running on a GPS capable telephone.
