AviatorCalc notes on various manufacturers mobile phones
It is impossible to give a cast iron guarantee that
AviatorCalc will work on every model of every manufacturers
mobile phone. For this reason you should always download
the FREE Crosswind Calculator via the above menu and try it out first before purchasing the full product. Below are notes made from
our records of existing users.

A
so called
J2ME
MIDP RUNNER from Netmite is required to support Java ME application such
as AviatorCalc on Android devices. We have been able to run AviatorCalc for the
most part on both an Emulator and an Android phone but the
results were a little disappointing. For instance the
characters displayed by the runner is are not very sharp. Also
the holding pattern calculator does not display properly. All
other programs however worked OK. These problems seem to be
associated with the the Netmite MIDP runner as they don't show
up on other devices. Unfortunately we are unable to contact
Netmite for their help as their site seems to be permanently
down.

There is currently
no support
for Java applications on iPhone from Apple themselves. Sun
Microsystems has developed a Java Virtual Machine for Apple's
iPhone and released it in July 2008. This enables Java
applications such as AviatorCalc to run on the iPhone. However
there still seem to be legal issues which make commercial
distribution difficult. The latest information on this can be
found by
clicking here. If you are interested in testing this
please contact us via the feedback form.

Known problems
running under some versions of Windows Mobile. Font too small on
Windows Mobile 5.x. Other models
of HTC phones appear to be
OK. AviatorCalc is known to run fine on a
HTC touch diamond 2 running Windows mobile v6.1
and using the Esmertec Jbed Java
run time engine. Download at least minimum version 20090506.2.1.
(See help centre for more details). See Windows Mobile on
this page.

No known problems running AviatorCalc. Uses the
Symbian
Operating system. Seems to provide very
good support for Java applications such as AviatorCalc. The N97
however is very sluggish but this appears to be a general
problem Also not enough of the screen on the N97 is available
for the application to run the the touch screen capability of
the N97. It works fine using the mini-QWERTY keyboard setting in
AviatorCalc.

Java ME programs such as AviatorCalc using the
WebSphere Everyplace Micro Environment from IBM. We
have not been able to test this.
Download the environment from
this link then download and install the FREE Crosswind Calculator

Microsoft support
for Java applications has greatly improved of late. AviatorCalc has
been tested on an HTC touch phone
running Windows Mobile 5.x however even the largest font
was displayed very small. However AviatorCalc is known to
run fine on a HTC Touch Diamond 2
running Windows mobile v6.1 and using the
Esmertec Jbed Java run time engine. Download at
least minimum version 20090506.2.1. (See
help centre for more
details). AviatorCalc runs fine on an HTC HD2 running Windows
Mobile 6.5 but it is necessary to create a shortcut to the
AviatorCalc application on the main menu (See the
AviatorCalc manual for details).
Download the
Crosswind Demonstration from the above menu and let us know how
you got on via the feedback form.
